What did you do this past week?

This week I finished up a paper that was due on Monday and studied for an exam in another class on Thursday. I also met with my group multiple times to work on phase 3 of the IDB project.

What’s in your way?

I am still a little confused about how to implement searching for the IDB project, but I think it will make more sense as my group continues to work on it. I have been feeling stressed as my classes have gotten busier leading up to the end of the semester, but I have been trying to do some self care so I can finish up the semester strong.

What will you do next week?

Next week I will continue to work with my group to finish up phase 3 of the IDB project. I will also try to get ahead on some of my assignments for my other classes.

If you read it, what did you think of the Why getter and setter methods are evil?

I did not read this paper this week, but I will try to go back and read it later because it seems useful.

What was your experience of select, project, cross join, and theta join?

I had previously heard of some of these relational algebra concepts, although cross join and theta join were new to me. The exercises where we implemented select and project helped me to get a better understanding of how these concepts work in practice.

What made you happy this week?

I got my first dose of the covid vaccine! If you haven’t been able to get scheduled at one of the big vaccination hubs, I would recommend looking at nearby pharmacies to see if they are administering the vaccine. I got mine at a pharmacy in a grocery store and some of the other people who were there said they had called the pharmacy that day and were able to get an appointment because some people didn’t show up for their appointments earlier in the day.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

Since registration is coming up, I thought it would be worth it to mention the UT Registration Plus chrome extension in case some people haven’t heard about it. It makes it super easy to find information about a class such as past syllabi and the rate my professor link, and you can also save courses and it will mark out courses that conflict with your saved ones.
