CS 373 Spring 2021 Week 4: Melanie De La Cruz
What did you do this past week?
This past week I finished my Collatz project and got it turned in. I also completed assignments for my other classes and took my first exam of the semester.
What’s in your way?
Not much is in my way at the moment. I have another exam next week and some assignments coming up, but other than that it looks like this next week shouldn’t be too busy for me. My main obstacle this week will probably be surviving the super cold weather (the low in Dallas on Monday is supposed to be around 1˚ rip).
What will you do next week?
Next week I will meet with my group members to come up with a project proposal for the IDB project. I will also go through the JavaScript versions of the example files we went over in class to make sure I understand how they work.
If you read it, what did you think of the Pair Programming?
I read this paper during my Operating Systems class a couple semesters ago and I enjoyed rereading it to refresh myself on the principles of pair programming. The pair programming technique was very useful in that class and I am curious to see how this might be implemented as part of the IDB project.
What was your experience of types?
The lectures over types this week were very helpful since I don’t have much experience with Python. I especially appreciated learning about the different data structures in Python since some of them work differently than their counterparts in Java.
What made you happy this week?
Last night I got food delivered from one of my favorite restaurants and watched a new movie that I had been really looking forward to. It was very nice getting to cuddle up with my dog on the couch during the movie since it was so cold outside.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
I just learned about a Google Workspace tool that is included as part of your UT Google account called Keep. Keep allows you to create notes and lists that you can access on any device and share with other people. This could be a useful way to keep track of assignments, since you can add a reminder for when assignments are due, or as a way to share notes for the group project.
