What did you do this past week?

This past week I got back into my class routine after Spring Break. I also worked on two group projects for different classes, which both ended up getting their due date pushed back.

What’s in your way?

There is still a lot to do for Phase 2 of the IBB project, although I believe that my group will be able to get everything done by Monday night. I am currently trying to figure out how the Postman tests work and it is starting to make more sense as I read more about how to implement testing. Mostly I just need to get back into the right headspace to finish off the semester strong after trying to relax some over the break.

What will you do next week?

I will finish up Phase 2 of the IDB project with my group and get that turned in by Monday night. Also, I will prepare for an exam in one of my other classes and work on my other group project.

If you read it, what did you think of the Interface Segregation Principle?

The Interface Segregation Principle made a lot of sense, although it could be difficult to identify where to use this principle in practice. Separating interfaces into groups based on their clients seems very useful so interfaces don’t have to rely on other interfaces that they don’t use.

What was your experience of comprehensions, yield, closures, and decorators?

I was initially a little confused about yield, but it makes more sense now after doing the exercise in class on Wednesday. I still don’t really understand closures and decorators, but I plan to look back at the class notes and look for online resources to provide additional explanations of these concepts.

What made you happy this week?

I was very glad when my project deadlines got pushed back. Looking ahead at my due dates, I was feeling very stressed about having to finish up Phase 2 of the IDB project by Saturday night and about having a test and a project due in another class next week. Now, I have been able to relax a bit and spend more time making sure that I am happy with what we have implemented for Phase 2 rather than rushing to finish the project on time.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

Sign up to get the Covid vaccine if you haven’t already! Make sure to look at surrounding counties in addition to the one you live in because many of them don’t require you to live in that county in order to get vaccinated there. You can sign up for multiple waitlists; just make sure to take your name off of the other lists after you get your first dose.
